I am an AI Hobbyist who enjoys exploring what happens when ideas, code, writing and technology meet.
I write, a few books published by Apress, and others are available at Leanpub or Amazon, I also frequently experiment with software, build small, middle or large applications, explore artificial intelligence, and occasionally wander into questions that do not have particularly tidy answers.
This website is where I keep some of those things.
What you will find here
The site brings together a few of my interests:
- Artificial Intelligence and the rapidly changing world around it
- Software development and programming
- Web development, particularly PHP, WordPress and headless architectures
- Applications and experiments that I build while learning and exploring
- Writing, including articles, essays and fiction
- Technology tutorials and documentation
- Ideas that are perhaps too curious to remain only as ideas
Some projects are polished.
Some are experiments.
Some begin with a simple question and become something considerably larger.
That is intentional.
Why I build things
I enjoy understanding how things work by actually building them.
Rather than treating technology as a collection of finished products, I prefer to take things apart, experiment with them, connect seemingly unrelated pieces and see what emerges.
That is one reason this website itself has become an experiment.
For example, the site uses WordPress as a headless backend, with a custom API layer and a separate PHP frontend. The architecture is documented here because the process of building it is just as interesting to me as the finished website.
The same philosophy applies to my applications and other projects.
Build it. Break it. Understand it. Improve it.
AI as a hobby
I call myself an AI Hobbyist deliberately.
I am interested in AI not simply as a technology, but as a strange new tool for thinking, creating and experimenting.
I use AI to explore ideas, assist with programming, develop projects, investigate concepts, generate creative possibilities and occasionally challenge my own assumptions.
I am still learning.
And that is probably the most enjoyable part.
There is no particular finish line here.
Writing
Alongside technology, writing has always been an important part of my life.
I write fiction, essays and other forms of creative work, and I enjoy moving between technical subjects and more human questions.
One day the subject may be a PHP application.
Another day it may be consciousness, technology, existence, or a fictional character standing in a very unfortunate place at three in the morning.
The subjects change.
The curiosity doesn’t.
This website
I don’t see this website as a personal showcase in the conventional sense.
It is more like a digital workshop.
Some things here are finished pieces.
Others are experiments in progress.
There may be tutorials, applications, source code, technical notes, articles and ideas that eventually lead somewhere unexpected.
If something here helps you build something of your own, then it has served a useful purpose.
And if it simply gives you an interesting idea to think about, that is perfectly good too.
A little less about me, a little more about curiosity.
That is probably the simplest way to describe this website.
