THE YOUTUBE DOWNLOADER – INSTRUCTION MANUAL
Welcome! This tool allows you to download any YouTube video to your computer at the highest possible quality.
Because YouTube often blocks basic downloaders, this folder contains a specialized setup to bypass those blocks securely. You do not need to know how to code to use this—just follow the two steps below.
STEP 1: THE ONE-TIME SETUP (Do this first)
Before you can download your first video, we need to install the engine that makes this work. You only ever have to do this once.
- Open this folder.
- Right-click on the file named “1-Setup-Once.sh”.
- Select “Run as a Program” or “Run in Terminal”.
- A black window will open. It may ask for your computer’s password. Type it in (you won’t see the letters appear, this is normal) and press Enter.
- Wait a minute or two while it downloads the required files.
- When it says “Setup Complete!”, press Enter to close the window.
STEP 2: DOWNLOADING A VIDEO (Do this anytime)
Whenever you want to download a video, just use this button:
- Right-click on the file named “2-Download-Video.sh”.
- Select “Run as a Program” or “Run in Terminal”.
- A window will pop up asking: “Enter the YouTube video URL:”
- Paste the link of the YouTube video you want and press Enter.
- Wait for the progress bar to reach 100%.
That’s it! The video file (MP4) will magically appear right here inside this folder.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Q: The window closes immediately when I try to run the files!
A: Your computer might be trying to open them as text documents. Right-click the file, go to “Properties”, click the “Permissions” tab, and make sure “Allow executing file as program” is checked.
Q: It says “Error 403 Forbidden” when downloading!
A: Make sure you have Google Chrome installed on your computer. This script uses your Chrome browser in the background to prove to YouTube that you are a real human, not a robot. Close your YouTube tabs in Chrome and try the download again.
